A New Era Begins...

It finally happened…. I got a new cell phone. I have had the same style cell phone since I was in college. It was just a good phone that did exactly what I needed to do… talk and text. Well, recently it fell on the floor and cracked so I super glued it together, which worked nicely. Then it fell again and I taped it up. I decided enough was enough so I gave in and got a new phone. To some who know me this may be a shock, but it’s not a nice phone, just basic. It doesn’t send pictures, or have the internet. It just does what I need it to do…talk and text. I think it’s a cute little phone.

BABY STUFF

I was worried that Ford may have colic and my pediatrician said that he might. You don’t tell someone you think their child has colic if you don’t know for sure. That is like a death sentence on a parent. Needless to say, he doesn’t have colic, but can have a temper and stomach problems. My mother in law bought me a good book which I have read from cover to cover…. “The Happiest Baby on the Block.” It discusses issues for calming fussy babies. Last night I came across this quote from the book which I thought was hilarious and right on the money. “Having a baby is like going to sleep in your own bed and waking up in Zimbabwe!” I LOVE IT!!!

THE NEWS IS OUT….

It’s official…I am going to be a stay at home mom this next school year. I have officially resigned from teaching for now. I DO plan to go back into the classroom again, just not exactly sure when.
I bet I have been asked that question 1,000 times in the last few months. And to be honest, Trey and I weren’t for sure what our plans would be until a few days ago. It’s sort of weird thinking that I won’t go back to work in August. I wonder what I will do with myself??? Then I remember that Ford demands a lot of my time here lately.

SOME THINGS I HAVE LEARNED….

Motherhood is still wonderful. I have learned a lot about taking care of little ones lately.

For instance… not all diapers are created equal. We have tried several brands until we realized that LUVS don’t leak. It’s a good thing too, because they are cheaper than some of the other brands.

I now understand that there are certain things I cannot eat because it hurts Ford’s stomach. Thus far I am steering clear of tomatoes, strawberries, and KFC. It occurred to me after lots of screaming that his little tummy can’t handle greasy or acidic foods. I told Trey that I would eat dirt if it meant that he would stop crying. Don’t get me wrong, he is a good baby, but if his tummy is hurting watch out!!!

I really appreciate all the help I have gotten from family and friends lately. It’s hard for me to get all my errands done with a newborn baby. You can’t take them out in public until they have had all of their shots, and I can’t stay at home for 6 weeks straight. I don’t see how people do it without people nearby to help. So, if you have contributed in babysitting, calling to check on us, bringing us food, or praying for our survival we truly appreciate it!!!!

Do I look like my daddy????

Ford is now 2.5 weeks old and is so much fun. I never knew how great motherhood could possibly be. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I LOVE to sleep and it’s not a good idea to wake me up. I really don’t mind the wake up calls I get in the middle of the night from my baby. I know he will only be little for a short time and I enjoy holding him and cuddling even at 1:00 A.M.

I have heard numerous times that he looks just like Trey. I have posted a picture of Trey at 5 weeks with his Aunt Pat and one of Ford to compare.

First trip to the doctor

Yesterday we noticed that Ford’s eye looked a little watery and glassy. I called the pediatrician and she said to come on in for a visit. We went to pick up daddy at work and headed to the doctor. When we got there we found out that what he has is common and a little cream would make him all better.
I was the hand washing Nazi before my baby got sick but you better believe I am going to be even more so now. So prepare yourself, if you come to see baby Ford, you will wash your hands before touching him!!!
Enjoy the pictures to the doctor.

Jefferson Hannaford Lamar

Well, after months of waiting our baby boy finally arrived!!!

On Thursday, April 30, I woke Trey up and told him we needed to go to the hospital. We got to the hospital around midnight and played the waiting game until 3:42 on May 1 when Ford was born.

He is such a blessing to our family. It’s hard to believe that he is already over a week old. He has a cute little personality and already smiles some. I can’t stop looking at him and feeling like the luckiest mom in the world to have such a perfect baby. Trey and I are so excited that he is here. Needless to say, he looks just like his daddy.

I WON!

Trey conned me into going to a Tate County Republicans dinner with him tonight at Northwest Community College. I was a good sport and went despite the fact that I do not feel too hot anymore.

We had a nice dinner, listened to some music, and Lieutenant Governor, Phil Bryant, talked about various things going on in our state. At the conclusion of the meeting they gave away three door prizes. They had a baker’s rack and two free carpet cleanings. I leaned over and whispered to Trey that we would probably win one of the carpet cleanings since we don’t have a stitch of carpet in our house. Low and behold, yours truly was called out as the big winner of the baker’s rack. I was beyond embarrassed and amazed since I have never won anything in my life.

As you can tell from the attached picture, it’s made of iron and granite. I have no clue where it is going in our house since it’s massive, but I was pretty pumped about my prize!!!

The school year is in full swing, and JESUS TAKE THE WHEEL, it is going fast.   Kind of funny, I'm talking about taking the wheel, and ...
