The 14 hour game

I may not know a lot about life, but this is what I DO KNOW... tournament baseball isn't for the weak.  No ma'am, it's not.  So, on Saturday we (as in all 5 of us) left home and headed to New Albany for Ford's game.  We rolled in at 9:00, played the first game at 10:00, followed by a rest with a trip to Dollar Tree and Subway.
My littles, as I call them, found some dirt.
 Ford found some eye black.
Annie got hot and had a mood change.
The team prayed before each game.
But at Dollar Tree I went to buy some buckets and shovels.  Naturally, gardening is a big hobby in New Albany, so they were fresh out of gardening shovels, so we opted for some heavy duty ice scoops.
And the dirt didn't just stay on the ground.
We played some more games in the heat.  But thankfully I have friends in high places and one of them brought a tent!  Jill sat under the tent!
See that ice scoop... it did the job!
Those outfits will be declared as their jerseys.  We shall wear these to all the games because that dirt pretty much ruined them.
I think this was taken after game #2.
Puddin and Pops came for games 3-5.
 He started to get tired.
 Annie started fading.
 It got dark.
Bitty and Luke played on an Ipad.
Bitty begged to go home and go to bed.
 He cried.
The boys played 5 games.  They made it to the playoffs, but at 11:00 PM we came in second place.
 He got a silver ring.
 Titans
Then on the 1 hour and 10 minute ride home the boys sort of slept, Annie yelled, and tornadic winds blew, but we made it by 12:30.  The kids all had to be bathed, which was BAD BAD BAD for the littles who screamed some more.  But they slept several hours before getting up for church.
Monday was Memorial Day so we went to see my favorite WWII vet at the VA in Oxford.  My Granddaddy has been there 4.5 years and is almost 93 years old.  He's gone down a lot in the last few moths and it breaks my heart.
My Grandmother came up from Jackson.  She's 91.

Telling Granddaddy goodbye.....
Although his words were few, he did manage to mutter, "I love you" before I left.  Yes, it made tears come to this not so emotional girl's eyes, because if I do know one thing, life is fragile and those we love won't be here forever.

The Life of a Suburban Driving Baseball Mom

Hello, and welcome to my life.  I'm a 34, almost 35 year old Suburban driving baseball mom.  At the Lamar household, "We do baseball."  Last weekend, my eldest, Ford, had a tournament in Kosciusko.  Trey and the boys went on to Starkville the night before to watch the Bulldogs play some baseball with the rest of the team.  I assured him they would have a much better time without Sister and me.  We lagged behind and headed down the next day.  To say it rained would be an understatement!!!!!!!!!
I started teaching school 12 years ago when I was basically a baby myself.  I'm pretty sure that first year I didn't have a clue what I was doing, but I sure tried.  My third year of teaching is when we moved to Senatobia.  My first group of third graders in Mayberry graduated this week.  I saw Quadarius at graduation and had to find him after the ceremony.  He kept saying, "Mrs. Lamar, I did it!!!!!!"  I was so proud of him!!!!!!!  Ohhhh it made me miss teaching... just teaching, not all the other stuff that comes with it!
Ford has gone to baseball and basketball camp this week.  He brought home the "Hot Shot Award" for making the most baskets in 60 seconds from 5 different positions.  (He's also sporting a red Gatorade mustache.)
This is me.  No, really it's Annie, but it also represents me.  She's a little sister who will be forever at a baseball game!  That was me... now it's her.
She still throws fits.
And refuses to sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But she likes chocolate as much as I do, and she's so cute that you can't help but squeeze her!
And him.  Ohhhh mylanta....him too.  Him too!!!!!!  Cuteness overload!
I don't listen to country music much, but the other day I turned some on in the car.  The song by Jon Pardi, "Dirt on My Boots" came on.  Bitty said that was TA and his song and they were rednecks. Long pause and then he said, "Is rednecks a bad word????!!!"
He is the tee ball champ!
Trey instructing.
And if you don't get really dirty then you haven't played hard enough.
Ford's city league season ended last night in a heart breaking loss of 15-14.  Those boys played their hearts out.

REPORT CARD TIME............

Bitty has now completed two years in 3K and he's off to 4K.  He's ready and excited about what's to come.  He's spent 8 nine weeks in Mrs. Laura's class and the last 9 weeks he got a (+) in voice control.  I am 100% sure it was given out of pity because he ain't quiet!!!!!!

Ford finished the year strong.  He had All A's every 9 weeks.    The last 9 weeks his grades were:
Reading- 96.33
Math- 98.56
Science/Social Studies- 99.25
Spelling- 98.64
English- 95.84
I'm proud of the boys and plan to keep those skills sharp this summer and have another great year in 2017-2018!!!!!
