He's 12

It baffles me that Ford is 12 years old today. I vividly remember the hours leading up to his birth and the first time I heard him cry. I recall thinking, “This is real. He’s mine. I’m a mom.... and slightly panicking.” I’m not going to lie, the first few colicky months were rough, but we made it through.

Ford is a special child. He’s kind and sensitive. He’s smart and curious. He’s compassionate and sincere. He’s a team player and a leader. He’s an awesome big brother and a great helper. He truly loves people and genuinely cares for them. He loves sports, church, school, learning, his friends and family, animals, and new adventures. I have no doubt that he will go far in life and touch many people along the way. He’s a big talker and makes friends easily. I love his sweet heart and want to protect him forever although I know I can’t.
I pray he does great things in life and follows through with all the big plans he has. Here’s to year #12!!!!! I love you more than you will ever know!!!!!

Ball, Zoo, Fish, and such

My boys LOVE to fish in the lake behind our house.  Ford recently got a kayak and his Daddy tested it out.  These were his catches of the day.

Our school recently had a week long fundraiser called the Boosterthon-Fun Run.  It's a fun week where the students get pledges and donations for the school.  When we went outside to watch the principal get slimed I found some of my students I taught in third and fourth grades.

The fifth and sixth grades recently went to the zoo.  Ford still likes me so he said I could go.  I was glad to spend the day with my eldest child.

Ford turned 12 on May 1 (birthday post to come) and he invited some boys over to play sports in the yard.

I let Annie have Emery come play.

Ford got hit in the arm last weekend playing ball....

Teacher Appreciation Week is fabulous.  All last week the kids brought me flowers!!!!!

And the parents club brought snacks everyday...

Sister in Law Trip Part 3

Well, the first wedding was fabulous, but it ended up being a sit down dinner.  We knew we couldn't pull that off so we scurried along to wedding #2.  This one was much smaller and again, a sit down dinner.  We mingled only a short time and decided to head out.

We went to a restaurant for a bite to eat and then.....drum roll please!!!!!!........!!!!!!!........we went BACK to wedding #1.  I was confident that the dinner would be over.  Ashley wasn't so sure about this idea, but we went.  Naturally they had security at the door and the place was locked, so we slipped in with some people who had been on a smoke break!  #winning

I was very interested in the photo booth and demanded that we document the occassion.

Ohhhhh it was fabulous.  By this time the lights were turned down low and we blended in perfectly.  I was texting my neighborhood group message and they suggested a picture with the bride.

Sister in Law Trip- Part 2

Friday night we went to eat at a place that was kind of good.  I can't remember the name of it.  After we ate we happened upon another big chair!!!
It was a struggle getting in that bad boy!

Saturday we slept in and then went to get a manicure and pedicure.

Saturday afternoon Ashley asked what we should do.  I suggested that we go to a wedding.  She thought I was crazy, but I have always loved the movie, Wedding Crashers, and thought it would be sooooo fun!!!!  So we looked online and found a lot of weddings in the area.  We chose one, learned about the people, and then got ready to Uber on over.

Marcus, the Uber driver, thought we had LOST our minds when we said we were going to crash a wedding.  He dropped us off and we strutted right on in that reception.  Step 1 was signing a covid release form.  We made up names.  I documented so people would know we really went.

After we got there we learned it was a sit down dinner reception.  Ahhhhh!!!!  I told Ashley to act cool and we'd blend in just fine.  I figured we had between and hour and hour and a half before the dinner started.  We sipped and mingled.

Huggie!

The bride....

Bold was.....

signing her board!!!!

When they started passing out the salads we decided we better jet.  We went to our second wedding.  It was smaller and more intimate than the first one.  We had a glass of wine and then left.  We decided to go grab a bite to eat.  Stay tuned....
