Last week was homecoming week on “the hill” which means kids are doing their best to come up with the most epic outfit each day and moms are stressing trying to help their little darlings execute their plans. Meanwhile, my child is looking at each day’s theme and thinking how she can make it her own and worry her mother to death.
Today was “Red Carpet Ready in Your Best Sunday Outfit”. Ok. Dress fancy. A dress. Sparkles. Rhinestones. Go all out. Your time to shine sister. Right? WRONG!!!
Not Annie. She beats to the tune of her own drum. Heck, she’s in her own band. It’s a one man band.
She decides she wants to be the “security for the red carpet”. The security!!! Ohhh I tried to talk her out of it. I said it was a bad idea. I told her she would get made fun of. She said, “No, I won’t. And I don’t care!”
You literally cannot argue with her. The teenage years are going to be purely amazing. I am bracing myself now.
So Annie went as “Tim- the Bodyguard” to sixth grade today for red carpet day. She rocked her look and WON best dressed in her class. She came out all smiles and was very pleased with her decision.
