R-I-C-E

Ford gets a lot of face time on the blog and poor John Brantley doesn’t.  I guess you can only take pictures from so many lying down positions with babies though.  We have been doing some serious tummy time.  I am a big rule follower when it comes to babies.  I know tummy time is important and we here at the Lamar household have some tummy time.  It’s not his favorite by any means, but it’s essential and we try to get in 15 minutes a day.  Of course it doesn’t all happen at once.  After 4-5 minutes he gets mad and starts yelling into the blanket!

On Monday a cold front came through and I dressed my children like a blizzard was brewing.  I think John Brantley was probably sweating in this get-up.  We were sitting outside watching Ford ride his tractor.

I don’t deviate from my schedule too much and usually follow the doctor’s orders on when to introduce new things.  However, sometimes I have to follow my own mommy instincts and do things when I think I should.  With that being said, we started rice cereal last night.  No, he is not 4 months old and won’t be until October 13th, but he was 15 weeks old yesterday and I thought it was okay.  I actually was reading through some old blogs last night and Ford had rice cereal for his first time at 14 weeks and 5 days.
Before….

Apparently it wasn’t as delicious as a nice steak, but that will come with time.  And please take note of the old man comb over we have going on here.

I promise it wasn’t as torturous as it might appear.

Ford needed to help too.

He thought the bib tasted better.

After…

And here is Ford on his first night of rice cereal.  He didn’t have the old man comb over hairdo.

And for the record, NO he didn’t sleep through the night.  He had rice cereal at 5:30 and I fed him at 7:00.  At 10:21 he woke up.  I fed him again and he slept until 6:46 this A.M.  I am hoping for big things tonight as well, minus the 10:21 wakeup call!!!

My Favorite Things Part 2

A few months back I did an Oprah like blog and talked about a few of my favorite things.  Well, I have a few more to share with you today.  These might not be as life changing as the arm hair bleach was, but I think they are worth sharing.
I will be the FIRST to admit I have a lot of room for improvement in the eating department.  I don’t always eat that healthy.  I like to snack.  I often find myself in the pantry just staring at the snacks thinking, “What should I eat?”  I’m not even hungry when I do it!!!!  It’s terrible.  I just happen to be in that part of the house and Ooops, I’m in there hunting around.  Well, I was at Wal-Mart on Saturday and I saw this granola.  It looked interesting and I decided to give it a try.  I’m glad I did.  Not only is it nutritious, it’s also delicious!

If you are a faithful reader to the Lamar family blog then you have heard me talk about my OCD ways of life, one of which involves cleaning.  You will all be glad to know that I haven’t been cleaning much lately, I have kind of gone on strike.  Not really, but I did call for backup and she is coming on Thursday.  Yay for Jan!!!  Well, I am REALLY strange about smells.  I don’t do candles, air freshener, or many types of perfume.  With that being said, a lot of cleaners make my head hurt and it’s just downright a bad situation.  Well, my mother found this scrumptious smelling cleaner and I approve and think you will too.  It’s another Wa-lMart special.  Actually pretty much 95% of what I buy is from Wal-Mart because Mayberry doesn’t have high end shops!

Now on to the beauty supplies
My hair is like a train wreck waiting to happen.  I wear my signature ponytail 360 days a year.  I like to change it up about 5 times a year to keep everyone on their toes!!  Well, I have a lot broken and baby hairs that are hard to tame.  Now I am even fortunate enough to be going bald (not really) so I need a HEAVY DUTY kind of hair spray.  I am pleased to say that one could stand in front of 90 mph winds and feel assured that your doo won’t budge!

Staying on topic with hair, I blow dry, straighten, and use hot rollers on this mane which causes some damage.  I LOVE to browse the beauty supplies in Wal-Mart and I ran across this coconut milk.  I tried it out and it was a keeper.  Now, I will advise that you not purchase this if you have oily hair.  You don’t need it.  My hair is very dry and stressed from the process it endures each morning.  And I only use two small squirts and I rub it on the ends of my hair.  My hair girl said she could tell I had been putting something on there and it looked better.  YAY!!!

And my personal favorite today is the nose strips!!!  Now many of you will probably think this is gross, but I find GREAT pleasure at looking at the nose strips once I pull it off my nose.  It’s such a cleansing feeling and I like looking at the results.  I’ll probably pay for this, but I have been known to clean Trey’s black heads off too!!!!

And here are some pictures that didn’t make the last two blogs....

To Jackson We Went

Sometimes I get a little cabin fever and feel the need to get out of town.  And that’s exactly what we did this week.  On Tuesday I picked Ford up from school and we headed to Jackson.  Gran, my mom, said she was going down to visit my grandparents and I horned in and invited myself and the boys and we went too.  To spare what sanity she has left from raising me, we stayed at Justice Puddin’s house and Gran stayed with my grandparents.  The ride down was nice.  John Brantley slept the entire way and Ford, well, Ford didn’t shut up!
Having a snack at my grandparent’s bar
All of the grandkids have LOVED sitting at Granddaddy’s desk and drawing.  We have now started a new generation of kids (great grandkids) playing at the desk!

Granddaddy trying to fix a truck Ford broke.  This was right before Ford flipped the walker over on his head!

Aunt Rose showing Ford some pictures on her Iphone.

No trip to Jackson would be complete without a trip to see Puddin at the Supreme Court building.  I warned Ms. Mary before she held John Brantley that he might spit up on her.  He grazed her shoulder and christened the floor real well!

Not many kids could get away with this in a Supreme Court Justice’s office.  Ford can!!!  His Puddin lets him get away with anything!

One night we met some friends at Chick fil a for supper.  The food part wasn’t too appealing to Ford.  He needed some playground action with his buddy, Ryder!

Ryder and Ford are about 3 months apart in age and their little brothers, John Brantley and Rhodes are 5 weeks apart.

And when we make trips to Jackson they usually involve the Children’s Museum as well.  Thank goodness we got to meet some friends there too.  Ford had a great time with Reid.

Ford thought it was fun to jump in the pack n play.  He requested that John Brantley join him.  I think John Brantley was a bit on the concerned side of things.

Back at Grandmother and Granddaddy’s house before we had to leave.

HAPPY 86th birthday to my Grandmother!

February recap
