The Giraffe Licked My Hand

Today’s adventure was a trip to the zoo.  Ford hadn’t been to the zoo since last September when Fancy went elk hunting.  The weather has been nice so we decided to go in the morning.  Trey put on long pants so I followed suit.  Bad idea… it was as hot as blue blazes.  Not that I have any shorts I could have worn, but still it was bad!
Ford had a large time and the day was even better since his cousins got to come too.

Ford and Caroline are big buddies.  They strolled together most of the day.  (Who is the random guy cheesing in the back of my picture?)

I didn’t get to watch the giraffe feeding, but Ford was pleased to announce that “The giraffe licked my hand”.

I haven’t updated on my pregnancy status or Ford in a while so here goes…

More on… How pregnancy has changed my life….
·        Crossing my legs is very uncomfortable and is becoming harder and harder to do.
·       Bending over can be a real situation.  I try to do all I need to while I am down there before I stand back up.
·       My eyes are dry at night when I wake up to go to the bathroom.
·       I wake up anywhere from 2-5 times a night to go to the bathroom.
·       My only craving is liquids.  We usually have a variety of juices in our frig: Gatorade, apple juice, cranberry juice, orange juice, Crystal Light tea, etc.
·       I feel like the skin around my stomach might rip.  I am getting A LOT bigger A LOT quicker with this baby.
·       Doing simple mundane tasks makes me feel like I have run a 5K.
·       If I talk too much (usually happens at school) I feel like I am short of breath.
·       My fingers and feet are beginning to swell.
·       I have gained 27 pounds!!!!!  You can close your mouth now.  (I know it was jaw dropping).
·       People at school swear I am having twins, that I won’t make it 11 more weeks, and one lady had the nerve to tell me I was carrying the baby in MY HIPS!!!!!  I was completely without words on that comment!

·       If I am lying down on my back and I try to get up without rolling over onto my side it is virtually impossible!
·       People stare at me like I am about to pop in public.  Usually they ask me when I am due and when I tell them they look at me with disbelief.  Am I in denial????????........... maybe I am really huge and I have on blinders.

Here is a picture with a student at school.  I am pretty large.

Some Facts About Ford:

·        He weighs between 29-30 pounds.
·       He wears a size 24 month/2T bottom.
·       He wears a 3T shirt.
·       He wears a 3T one piece outfit (jon jon).

·       His still has 4 pacis and only is allowed to have them while sleeping.
·       He has a favorite blue blanket that he calls bankie.
·       He goes to bed around 7:00-7:30 and sleeps until 6:30 on school days and 7:30 on weekends.
·       He won’t eat fruit.
·       He loves milk.
·       He prefers cinnamon rolls for breakfast.  If I don’t have those he needs a blueberry Special K cereal bar.
·       He loves nuts.
·       He loves the mud, tractors, 4-wheelers, all utility vehicles and machines, and yard equipment.
·       He is scared of loud noises.
·       He is OCD about safety.  He CONSTANTLY asks when we are riding in the car if we are being safe.  He wants to make sure our wheels aren’t going to fall off and that the police aren’t going to pull us over!
·       He is a little negotiator.  If you ask him to do something he will try to work out a deal with you.
·       He still naps once a day for 1.5 to 2.5 hours.
·       He has learned to ride his bike and it brings him great pleasure to ride up and down the side-walk.
·       Ford is very good at remembering people’s names and can recognize their cars wherever we go.
·       He can carry on a full conversation with you and doesn’t forget anything.  You can’t make promises to him you won’t keep.
·       He loves to rub on my belly.  He is very concerned that Toto is going to come out and I am not going to tell him about it.
·       He is very tender hearted.  If you speak too sternly to him he will cry.
·       He worries about people who get hurt or that are sick.  He will continue to worry until you assure him they are okay.
·       He loves our dog, Delta.
·       He can point out businesses in town and let me know what their name is.  (Ex. McDonald’s Popeyes, Back Yard Burgers, Sonic etc.)  Mayberry is famous for fast food restaurants.  We don’t have anywhere decent to eat.
·       He likes to talk about things he is going to do when he grows up.
·       If he wants to do something that is for babies I will tell him no.  He asks if he can do it when he “grows down”!!!
·       He loves to learn about Jesus.  We read about him every night.

Enough for Africa

Toto’s little room is coming along.  I told y’all on my last post to stay tuned for pictures of the furniture that Puddin painted.  Well, it’s done and looks quite nice in my opinion.  I am not much of a painter, and Puddin loves a project so I think we work well together!
The dresser before paint....
In the process of being painted….

And the final product in Toto’s room…
His room has two little closets with a window in between.  The first idea we had was to do a window seat with some storage below, but we opted for another dresser instead.
Before……

And after….
I am not sure how to arrange the drawers.  We also scratched the blue drawer on the ride home from Puddin and Pop’s house so it will have to be fixed.

I told Puddin that she could have a new hobby of redoing furniture and selling it on Ebay.  I think she might be too busy for all that, but it was a good thought on my part.
I think Trey is about ready to beat me.  My pregnancy hormones are in full swing and I am demanding a lot.  I had him go into the attic today and get the tub of newborn-6 months baby clothes down so I could start washing stuff.  He doesn’t understand why I am doing all of this stuff with 3 months to spare.  I have a really scary/horrible/disturbing feeling that this baby is coming early or I will get put on bed rest of something uncool like that.
I started washing some clothes tonight.  NO ONE buy me any onesies.  I have enough to clothe the entire continent of Africa.  I don’t know where all the things came from, but they are in all sizes and colors.  This baby really is fixed up as far as clothes are concerned.  I told my mom I really don’t need that much stuff.  I’d like some wash clothes, hooded bath towels, some baby monitors, and a diaper bag.  Of course other items like diapers and wipes are always needed, but I am in good shape here.
Ford’s little friend, James, had a birthday party today at his grandparents’ house.  We went to celebrate with them and have some cake.

Since we added a room onto our house for Toto we lost our back porch that we never sat on.  We are adding a patio area with an arbor onto our house.  We also tore down part of our wooden fence and will replace it with a rout iron one soon.  Ford has enjoyed playing in the dirt.  I will be soooooooooo glad when all construction is complete at my house and we can maybe live normally for a while.  I won’t hold my breath though.

12 weeks until Toto is here….

Chalk Paint, Twins, and Newt

Toto’s room is coming along nicely.  I bought two pieces of furniture for his room.  I got a pretty big dresser and a small dresser which are both being painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint by Puddin.  They look so good.  I will post before and after pictures this weekend when they are complete.  Ford enjoyed helping paint too.
He was very unsure about the sander until he realized it wouldn’t hurt him and then he definitely needed to give it a try.

We spent a lot of time at Puddin and Pop’s house this weekend.  Ford also assisted when Bo needed to get his hair brushed.

We also spent some time at our property looking around and watering the trees we planted.

I am 26.5 weeks along now.  Toto still doesn’t have a name and I am not quite sure if he ever will.  Either Trey doesn’t want to talk about names or he and I can’t agree.  He keeps bringing up the same choices and I keep shooting them down.  When he asks for my input I don’t have a lot to offer and what I do give is shot down by him.  So, Toto’s room will pretty much be complete this weekend and the baby still doesn’t have an official name!
“I think” I did pretty well with my baby weight and pregnancy up until a few weeks ago.  I am 6 months pregnant and today I must have looked 9.  I was told by several students and even some adults at school that I looked like I might be carrying twins.  I guess all those Girl Scout Cookies weren’t a good idea after all!!!

I have a pregnancy question for some of you mommas out there.  I didn’t have this problem when I was pregnant with Ford, but now I have extremely dry eyes at night.  I am waking up 2-4 times a night to go to the bathroom.  When I wake up it is almost impossible for me to open my eyes.  They are so dry it is painful.  I don’t own any Visine so I have been squirting contact solution in my eyes so I can see.  Is this normal???

Newt came to the Capitol a few weeks ago and the Gentleman from Tate County (Trey) got to take his picture with the big man!!!

Stay tuned for pictures from Toto’s room….

Psyched up to fail

There really aren’t words strong enough to express how much I love spring break.  I have not rested for one minute thus far, but it has been relaxing.
Monday morning Ford, Gran, and I left for Jackson.  As soon as we got in the car Ford asked, “Momma, are we packed in here like sardines?”  I laughed and told him we were.  He literally talked the entire trip to Jackson.  We got there a little before lunch and visited with my grandparents and then had lunch at Keifer’s with my friend, Taylor.  After lunch it was nap time.  When Ford got up we went to Lowe’s to buy some blinds for Toto’s room.  The lady had to cut the blinds for us and Ford couldn’t stand the sound so we rode tractors while we waited.  Then we went to Baby’s R Us and bought a bath sling for Toto.

Monday night Phillip Gunn, the speaker of the house, and his wife had us and two other couples over for dinner.  They had a lovely home with a closet in their bedroom that I am putting on my wish list when we build a house.
Tuesday morning Ford and I left bright and early to head to Hattiesburg.  We met my friend, Jamie, and her little boy at Chick Fil A and then did minimal Target shopping.  We were also able to get together with my friend, Katie, and her girls and Stephanie and her daughter.  It was so fun to see us all together with our babies now.

I couldn’t sleep while in the Burg so Ford and I were headed out at 8:00 A.M. en route back to Jackson.  Our first stop was at the Supreme Court building to see Justice Puddin.
Ford and Puddin looking out the window at the capitol.

Then Trey insisted that we come to see him at the capitol.  I was really nervous about taking Ford over there because you really never know how he will act.  We were nicely surprised with his behavior.  He was very personable and shook hands with lots of people, asked them for their candy, generously took all their junk off their hands, and then we left after he busted his leg on a chair and started screaming bloody murder.  Other than the screaming it was a lovely visit.

After the performance put on at the capitol we ate lunch with Puddin at Two Sisters, napped, and then did some more shopping.  I discovered a place that I LOVE, The FatCake Guy.  He is located on Lakeland and has fabulous desserts.
Wednesday night we went to Clinton to eat with some friends.  We hadn’t seen them in several years (almost 5) but since I read their blog I felt right up to speed with all the happenings in their life.  Our boys share a love of tractors and talking and they had a great time.

Ford and I slept until 8:00 this morning and then went to my grandparent’s house to visit some more.  Their house is like a museum of breakable trinkets and I was a nervous wreck 90% of the time.  Ford did enjoy listening to the clock bong and the sweet tarts they had waiting on him.

He about drove my grandfather, and his name sake, crazy playing on his walker.

Ford and Granddaddy…

Ford and Grandmother…

Ford and Gran…

Ford and Big Belly (how he refers to me now)….

So some of you may be wondering why the title of my blog is “psyched up to fail.”…  I am scheduled to have my glucose (diabetes) testing tomorrow.  When I had the test with Ford I never for one minute thought I would fail the test.  Well, guess what…. I did.  I was completely blown away when the nurse came back and said I failed.  I was then scheduled to go to the hospital the next day for the 4 hour diabetes testing.  People, it was BAD!!!  I actually enjoyed drinking the stuff because I was so hungry, but could NOT stand the nurse sticking me in the arm 4 times to take my blood.  I considered hitting her it hurt so badly.  Fortunately, I didn’t have diabetes but just a scare.
So tomorrow is the big day…. I am not feeling positive about the outcome.

February recap

Axton and Griff both played on Ford's BPA travel team last year and this year that came to our school!!! "Momma, take my picture!&q...
