Simplified birthday party- Go Rebels

I like to think that I "keep it real" on here.  Not much sugar coating, just real life with the Lamars. Well, we all know that we've been celebrating Ford's birthday for a lot of days now, and yesterday was no different.  Yesterday was party day.

Back in the beginning, (only 1 child and maybe his first two birthdays) I liked a party.  But let's get real, people, they have turned into a spectacle and I blame it all on Pinterest. I have a Pinterest account but couldn't tell you the last time I was on there.  Super moms have gone overboard and left everyday average moms like myself ready to sink.  I refused to sink.  I hopped in a life boat instead. Did Ford have a party???  You bet your bottom dollar he did.  My goal for 2015 is "simplify".  Therefore, we had a simple party.

I told the little guy he could have five friends go to the Ole Miss vs. MSU baseball game in Oxford.  I was even nice enough to him that I didn't put "no gifts please" on his invite this year.  The thought crossed my mind many times.  I won't lie.

So he picked his five friends and I went from there.  In years past I have been a cake snob. I thought it was like the central theme to the party and would spend $60+ on flour and sugar only to see the ankle biters take a few licks of the icing. Friends, Wal-Mart makes cakes too.  We did a Wally World cake complete with plastic toys for $19.98!!!  Please note that it makes perfect sense to have a basketball cake when you're going to a baseball game.  The boy picked the cake.  I just went with it.  Remember... Pinterest strike is going on here!
Keeping it "simple.  The spread was complete with the Wal-Mart cake, M&M's, and Cheese Puffs.  I will have you know I am glad I had a limited selection considering one kid ate the food. The others found it more exhilarating to get every toy I own out and try them out.  Whatever works, right?!?!?
Mom of the year.... I let the boy have presents.  I'm so sweet.  As if we needed one more toy.  You're only a child once!
So after 45 minutes of pure chaos we loaded up in my car and our neighbors' car and headed to Oxford.  We laid down the ground rules in the car, "No screaming".
Trey made them walk and hold hands.
Then, then, then, Praise the Lord, we hopped on a shuttle.  As if a ballgame isn't exciting enough to bring lots of people to one area, graduation was also going on.  Parking was sparse.
The kiddos ate, drank, drank, drank, ran, and played on the playground. Ohhh and they ran. Did I mention they ran???  Only about 3 minutes was spent watching the actual game.
We got on TV!!!!  That's what happens when you stand next to someone "Fancy"!!!!
The game lasted much longer than 2 hours, BUT my nerves were shot by 6:00.  Watching 7 little boys is a j-o-b.  We never lost one or had an injury.  I'd say it was a success.   I hope everyone had a nice time.  Five and a half hours is a rather lengthy birthday party if I do say so myself.
Happy 6th birthday party to my Fordy!!!

Get your party on

It's that time of year again, every teacher's light at the end of the tunnel and every mom's saddest day.  It's the end of the school year.  As a teacher, I always had mixed emotions about the conclusion to the year.  I felt like the students were my children, after all we had spent almost 10 months together and were a well oiled machine.  We had learned lots about one another, moved mountains, and tackled a tough curriculum.  Honestly, some kids I was sad to see go, and others I knew I'd see again on America's Most Wanted!  I do not lie about such.... Truth!  Now as a stay at home mom I have different emotions, and yes, they are mixed too!!!  I'm sad that a routine is about to be broken but glad that I won't feel rushed out the door every morning.  I thrive on a routine and the next few months are going to be like a fruit basket turn over.

On Thursday, Mini Mag (the name of the 3-5K at Ford's school) had their big end of the year party.  There was all kinds of good stuff to do.

Free play ... Ford, Caroline and Ella Grace
Turtle races
Petting zoo
Train ride
Snack time
Pony rides
More petting
Face painting
I think I failed to take pictures of the bouncy house.  But the kiddos had a fabulously sweaty day, made great memories, and wore themselves out!!!!
We certainly can't forget about these two babies of mine!!!!

Extended Celebrations

Last Friday Ford turned six.  It's hard to believe that my "baby" is more than one handful now.  It makes me sad, but at the same time happy because he was super excited.

He definitely looks like his Daddy.  Those Lamar genes are strong.  However, he got some Anthony in him too.  This Anthony would come from my dad and his BoomPa. Ford thinks he needs to celebrate his birthday for an extended amount of time.  His real birthday was Friday and then on Sunday we had a "Grandma party" at Puddin and Pop's house, and he will have a few friends to celebrate with this weekend.

Puddin let Ford make his own cake.  Green cake, orange icing, and 8 candles. He needed two to grow on.
Bitty was confused most of the weekend.    He didn't quite under why Ford was getting all of the attention. His time is coming.
And Puddin and Pops got him Legos.
She also bought both of them bubble guns. Bitty was shooting the "mean guys".
Bitty likes to help everyone do everything.  Don't think you're going to get away with doing a job alone. Ohhhh no!!!  He helped Puh (aka Puddin) plant flowers recently and needed to bring her "shubble" (shovel) home to dig in the sand.
Sister is a car seat baby.  Third child.  She's gotta just go with it.
She needed to talk to Pops about a few things.  She's into squealing and cooing.
Bobba is Annie's great grandmother. My kids have three great grandmothers and one great granddaddy.
We have a thumb sucker. It's official.
Rare rare rare occurrence that The Bit takes a nap.
The Bandits
#4
At supper the other night Ford was telling us that one of his friend's dads killed a snaked. It was a "cotton mouse" (cotton mouth)!!!!

Congratulations to Puddin on being named "Woman of the Year".  I told her at the end of the day she's just Puh to three little kids.  She said that was her favorite title!!!!
Doesn't get sweeter than this!!!!!

Her Last Meet the Teacher

Girl likes her a tea! I decided Annie was old enough to start getting her eyebrows waxed.   I didn't really explain the whole process to...
