Simplified birthday party- Go Rebels

I like to think that I "keep it real" on here.  Not much sugar coating, just real life with the Lamars. Well, we all know that we've been celebrating Ford's birthday for a lot of days now, and yesterday was no different.  Yesterday was party day.

Back in the beginning, (only 1 child and maybe his first two birthdays) I liked a party.  But let's get real, people, they have turned into a spectacle and I blame it all on Pinterest. I have a Pinterest account but couldn't tell you the last time I was on there.  Super moms have gone overboard and left everyday average moms like myself ready to sink.  I refused to sink.  I hopped in a life boat instead. Did Ford have a party???  You bet your bottom dollar he did.  My goal for 2015 is "simplify".  Therefore, we had a simple party.

I told the little guy he could have five friends go to the Ole Miss vs. MSU baseball game in Oxford.  I was even nice enough to him that I didn't put "no gifts please" on his invite this year.  The thought crossed my mind many times.  I won't lie.

So he picked his five friends and I went from there.  In years past I have been a cake snob. I thought it was like the central theme to the party and would spend $60+ on flour and sugar only to see the ankle biters take a few licks of the icing. Friends, Wal-Mart makes cakes too.  We did a Wally World cake complete with plastic toys for $19.98!!!  Please note that it makes perfect sense to have a basketball cake when you're going to a baseball game.  The boy picked the cake.  I just went with it.  Remember... Pinterest strike is going on here!
Keeping it "simple.  The spread was complete with the Wal-Mart cake, M&M's, and Cheese Puffs.  I will have you know I am glad I had a limited selection considering one kid ate the food. The others found it more exhilarating to get every toy I own out and try them out.  Whatever works, right?!?!?
Mom of the year.... I let the boy have presents.  I'm so sweet.  As if we needed one more toy.  You're only a child once!
So after 45 minutes of pure chaos we loaded up in my car and our neighbors' car and headed to Oxford.  We laid down the ground rules in the car, "No screaming".
Trey made them walk and hold hands.
Then, then, then, Praise the Lord, we hopped on a shuttle.  As if a ballgame isn't exciting enough to bring lots of people to one area, graduation was also going on.  Parking was sparse.
The kiddos ate, drank, drank, drank, ran, and played on the playground. Ohhh and they ran. Did I mention they ran???  Only about 3 minutes was spent watching the actual game.
We got on TV!!!!  That's what happens when you stand next to someone "Fancy"!!!!
The game lasted much longer than 2 hours, BUT my nerves were shot by 6:00.  Watching 7 little boys is a j-o-b.  We never lost one or had an injury.  I'd say it was a success.   I hope everyone had a nice time.  Five and a half hours is a rather lengthy birthday party if I do say so myself.
Happy 6th birthday party to my Fordy!!!
