Grandparent's Day celebrations

Sometimes I feel like “busy” is an understatement for my life.  Honestly though, if I don’t have something marked on my calendar then I “create” things to do.  Ask Trey.  It drives him nuts that I won’t relax.  It’s just me.

This has proved to be another busy week for us.  On Monday, Ford’s school celebrated Grandparent’s Day.  I signed up to be the chairman for his class on this party/event.  Therefore, I was in charge of the decorating and food tables.

Ford was kind enough to practice singing all of his songs for me weeks in advance!!!  The morning of his program I got him all fired up.  I told him he would have 5 grandparents and two parents there, and he needed to have his game face on.  He was pumped in the car.  I knew when the actual program began I would get the “stink eye” from him a time or two.  He doesn't want you to make a big deal about stuff in front of lots of other people.  He gets embarrassed!!!!
His hair was doing something funny that morning.  While in the carpool line I sprayed some hairspray on the front of his doo.  You can so tell I did it… oops!
 Stink.  Eye.

Monday was a special day celebrating Grandparent’s Day at Ford’s school!!!

Then Tuesday it was time for John Brantley’s school to celebrate.  No, I am not a grandparent and technically wasn't invited, but I was available and my camera needed to document Bitty’s program too!!!

My parents arrived before I got there.  John Brantley already had my mom, Gran, digging in her purse for him some peppermints.
Bitty and his grandmothers…. He wouldn't act right.  But what’s new?!?!?
His little class was to sit at tables and sing some songs.  I didn’t have high expectations for John Brantley.  He doesn't sing at home and he hasn't been talking that well for too long.  I did expect him to act better than this though….
This is the…”I’m not doing a thing and you can’t make me do SQUAT look.”
Bitty had the same star treatment with 5 grandparent representatives for his day too!!!

The chipmunk wasn't as big on Tuesday as on Monday.  But I made up for it by looking “large and in charge” in the belly section.
Despite his flat out refusal to participate in the program, he is still pretty darn cute to me!
What do we do during the day???  Eat cupcakes and body paint with the icing!!!
Thankful for my two little men who keep me on my toes and wear me out every single day!!!!

Cotton Fields

I fee l like I have been so busy lately.  I honestly could sleep for the next 3 days and I would still be tired.  But I justify all this going and doing because in a few months I will be home-bound with Cake.  So until then I will just go to bed at 8:30 PM to make up for the severe exhaustion.

I found a pretty good cotton field a few weeks ago and decided to take the boys there for a little photo shoot.  I was really excited about this adventure, but why?  They were more interested in picking the cotton, playing in the mud, and acting goofy.  Getting quality pictures are few and far between.
Let’s update on Bitty.  I promise God put this child in my life to keep me on my toes.  You NEVER know what he will do or say next.  He’s funny and challenging all at the same time.  I feel like I am constantly spanking him for acting terrible and then kissing and loving on him the next second.
He has started talking so much more.  I joked around saying he is like a person who speaks another language and is trying to learn English.  For example:  If he were meaning, “I don’t want that” he might say, “Me not want that”.  He often says mine or mines instead of my.  Example:  “I want to ride mine bike.”

He refers to me as “Ford’s momma” a lot and calls his daddy, "Trey".  Except he says Ford funny… he can’t pronounce his “R’s” too good just yet.    He calls fish- “sish” and Capri Sun drinks- “Cree Cree”.
He isn’t showing a great interest in potty training.  I guess I need to be patient, he isn’t even 2 ½ yet.   The child LOVES a truck, trailer, 4-wheeler, tractors, and camouflage.  He is constantly looking out the window when we drive for things he needs to show me.  He calls a trailer a “tray tray”, a 4-wheeler a “four four”, a tractor a- “trap trap” and he calls camouflage- “flaugie”.
He loves to snuggle and give kisses.  Yes, we still rock or lie down together at bed time.  I’m the only sucker that will fall for it.  He doesn't require this of anyone but me.  If Trey or I go anywhere and return he says, “Miss you momma” or “Miss you Daddy”.  He is much more headstrong than Ford was or is.  No amount of punishment can break him if he’s got his mind made up.  Let’s just say he has gone to bed hungry more than once because he was convinced he didn't like supper before he even tasted it!
And then there’s Ford.  He is a much easier child, but has his challenging moments too.  I can reason with him a lot easier, and he’s scared of a punishment.  He desperately wants to sit in a booster seat in my car.  I read somewhere that to sit in a booster you need to weigh 40 pounds.  Well, he doesn't weigh 40 yet so he’s sad.  The other day he weighed 39.  He ate a slice a piece and immediately went for the big weigh in again.  He was disappointed to still weigh 39 and not 40 pounds!
He’s growing up and the last few months have really made this apparent to me.  His love for new things is coming out…new bigger boy things.  Like Ninja Turtles.  I let him watch the show the other day and overhead one of the turtles say, “Let’s go kick their butts”.  Ford sure was sad when I put a screeching halt to his turtle watching.  I told him he could watch it when he’s older.  They do a lot of fighting on there and I’m not ready for such wildness in my house.  Ford is my sensitive and emotional child.  I want to maintain his innocence as long as possible.
He’s a definite momma’s boy and homebody.  He wants to be where I am at all times.  This is sweet, but causes problems on occasion and separation anxiety every now and then.

He has such an imagination and I love to hear him talking to his toys or building things.
Ford wants to be something different about every day.  He will ask about different professions and then want to know how long you have to go to school to do that.  He’s a smart one.  I guess he got it from his Daddy.  His first 9 weeks report card was great.  I made him some flashcards and we practice reading our sight words several times a week.  He’s already doing math that is more towards on a first grade level.  I want to make sure he never struggles in school!!
It makes my heart happy when I see my boys playing peacefully together.  Don’t get me wrong, this doesn't always happen.  Ford is very particular about his things and wants them just so.  Bitty is more of the destroyer and as soon as Ford tells him “No” he will mess things up.  I've tried to explain to Ford that he just needs to show John Brantley how to play Legos and he will be sweet.  Some days they are cordial and others it’s brutal.
I do know these two boys are super excited about being big brothers in February.  It’s going to rock both of their worlds, but Bitty’s A LOT more!
Pregnancy Update:

I am 24 weeks pregnant which to all you old timers would be 6 months.  The whole being pregnant 9 months thing isn't true because it’s 40 weeks.  However all that works!!  Therefore, I've got about 3.5 months to go… depending on when she makes her grand debut.

I went to the doctor this week and I have gained 14 pounds.  I’m not really sure how I feel about that.  I told my doctor that my goal was NOT to gain 40 pounds again like I did with John Brantley.  She laughed and said, "That’s not my goal for you either."

Baby girl was measuring a few days ahead of schedule and weighing 1.6 pounds.  The ultra sound tech said the baby was in a great position to take ultra sound pictures.
The cord is wrapped around her neck once.  You can see that in the picture.  I didn't freak out though.  I set a hospital record back in 1982… it was wrapped around my neck 5 times and I was 19 days late.  And my mom still loves me!!!
Even though it appears like she has hair, she doesn’t yet.  Those are shadows.  I do hope this child will come out with a head full of hair like her brothers so I can put bows in there!!!  I told Trey by week 30 she must have a name.
Getting dressed is never a fun task.  I have decided that maternity jeans are the most uncomfortable thing on the planet, and I rarely wear them.  I honestly prefer my sweat pants and an XL sized t-shirt.  But really, that’s my ideal get-up when not pregnant.
If you missed my blog post titled “The Beast” you really need to click here and go back and read it!  It was some of my better work and quite comical if I don’t say so myself!
We sold our house and moved into a rental house about 6.5 months ago.  I left a large portion of our stuff packed up in boxes.  It has come to the point where I can’t stand it anymore.  It recently dawned on me that “Elfie”, our Elf on the Shelf, is MIA and I can’t find a bag of shoes.  They are not my shoes that are missing, but some that Ford wore when he was Bitty’s size.  It makes me sick.  I have searched for the blasted shoes and can’t find them.  I guess they will surface when he’s outgrown them.  We hope to move into our new house in January.  Fingers crossed!!!!

Trunking, Treating, Parties, and 1/2 Birthdays

There have been a lot of festive things going on here in Mayberry as of late.  We've had trunking, treating, parties, and ½ birthdays.

On Wednesday our church, First Baptist, had its annual “trick or trunk’’.  You better believe the Lamar’s were in attendance.  We love an activity.   What wasn't so strongly loved was John Brantley’s feelings towards the headgear that complimented his outfit.

Presenting… Spider-Man and Bugs Bunny!!!
Ford and his buddy, Langston
Pops and the boys
Sometimes we needed to sample the candy as we were hopping from car to car at “trick or trunk”.
Ford and Mr. Blake... he taught Ford Sunday school last year.
Trick or trunk was big fun and we loaded up on the candy for sure.  As if we really needed any!!!  Then Friday came and wouldn't you know the real deal Halloween was here.  My friend, Rosy, invited some folks over for snacks and playing before we braved the cold and wind.
All the kiddos
I think my boys could have stayed at her house, but it was on to more treating.
Can you see the sheer aggravation the head piece caused the little man???
This little dude usually said, “tricky teat”.
Ahhhh there’s nothing like pulling up to a house with “Alf” on the front porch waiting on the little treaters.  Naturally, mine had no clue about this character, and Bitty wasn’t getting out of the car.  I am beyond shocked he would take a picture with the “Mean Moose” as he called him!

Going to see Big Momma and Big Daddy
And last, but not least, we had classroom parties.  When I arrived at Ford’s school they were having a little trick or treating at some of the big kids’ cars.  I thought this was super cute and sweet.  Then I learned that Ford’s high school football buddy, Grant  #73,was out there.  Apparently, Grant goes and reads to Ford’s class occasionally and Ford thinks he is as cool as sliced bread.  So like any good momma would do, I took a picture!

Loved being with my little man!!!!
And Bitty’s class had a party too.  I didn’t attend this one.  It was more of a glorified snack than a party.  My Tuesdays and Thursdays mornings are sacred to me.  Both boys are at school and I am in HIGH GEAR trying to clean and do productive things.  Since no parents attended the party, I just sent a camera for his teacher to take a few pictures!
Ahhhhhh and like any goober mom, I like to celebrate random things….half birthdays to be exact.  Let me first explain myself.  Children have always enjoyed sharing their birthdays at school with their classmates.  Moms send snacks and the kid gets to feel special.  I never had that.  Being that I am born in July all my friends were out for summer break.  I didn’t get to celebrate at school.  So my mom, Gran, would send cupcakes in January on my HALF birthday.  Genius, I know!!!  I got my special in!!!  Soooo I think half birthdays are a BIG deal, and today (11/1) is Ford’s 5 ½ year old birthday.  We celebrated with a special breakfast and décor.  He was pleased.  Can you tell???

Her Last Meet the Teacher

Girl likes her a tea! I decided Annie was old enough to start getting her eyebrows waxed.   I didn't really explain the whole process to...
