Big Lellow Tractor

Today when we pulled in the driveway from school Ford started squealing that the “big lellow (yellow) tractor” was back from the fields.  Who knows where the thing went, but I sure told him it was out in the fields planting corn, peas, and beans.  Naturally we had to go ride it.

I really am fascinated by the pinterest website I blogged about.  Today we decided to make another art project.  I think this one turned out better than the tree…

It’s a lobster!

When we were brushing our teeth before bed Ford put on my head band.  I love this thing.  My friend, Sarah, got married last year and had these in our bride’s maid’s goody bags.  I use mine daily.

Ford used to not be a big fan of reading.  In the last few weeks he seems to really enjoy it.  We read several books before bed each night.  These are his favorites right now….

He has memorized most of them.  I can start off a page and say about two words and he will finish the page.  It’s hilarious.  I need to record him doing it so I won’t forget later on.

Short, sweet, and to the point… That is all I have for you tonight!

Goodman trip

On Thursday night I told Trey that tomorrow (being Friday) was one of my favorite days at school.  He promptly asked me what I was planning to dress up as that day.  Every Friday during football season we have some kind of theme and Friday was “Shock the Chargers”.  We were supposed to wear crazy hair.  I perfected my doo complete with 8 pony tails on Thursday night as a test run and pulled it off beautifully on Friday.

I was not alone.  Others on my hall joined in the fun as well.

Saturday was a BIG day for Ford.  It was his first time wearing blue jeans.  He is a little over 28 months old right now and those jeans are a size 18 months.  He’s a small fella.

After we posed for a picture in our jeans we loaded up in the truck and headed south to Goodman, MS.  We have friends who have a hunting “camp” there who invited us to come and play for the weekend.  We hauled most of our house for the one night stay as well.
We road tractors, 4-wheelers, and rangers.

Trey decided to go fishing.  Ford was not sure about the new adventure at first and needed to step back and examine the situation a bit.

I am sure Trey was giving Ford some speech about how to put the cricket on the fishing pole.  Man things… I know nothing about that!

They caught one!  Ford even kissed it, but of course I missed the shot!

Looking for bugs

When we got home we had to visit Puddin and Pops.  A visit to feed the horses was also in order.

We had a good weekend.  I am sad to see it come to an end.  I hope that all the Grandparents who read my blog had a HAPPY GRANDPARENT’S DAY today!!!!!!!!  We sure love ours around here!

Buzzert

I “think” (my opinion) that we should have Labor Day every month.  I need a day free of labor more than once a year.  Trey spent some of his weekend in the dove field.  We had some friends over to eat the birds he killed.  Trey threw them on the grill and then asked for my camera.  Men and their meat!

On Monday we went to my parents’ house to have lunch.  I decided since we would be traveling north it would be nice to do a little shopping at Target and places of that nature.  Trey only agreed to go early to shop since I told him we could go to the Outdoor Store too.  We women must compromise to get what we want!!!  Ford enjoyed playing in the sleeping bags and putting on the Daniel Boone hat!

When we got to Gran and BoomPa’s house Ford had to make sure his “tractor” (better yet his lawnmower) was okay.

Ford and Uncle Ken playing football with Daddy in the backyard.

Ford and Jack

The kids’ table.  This was big time for Ford.  This was his first time sitting there.  And yes, he had to change clothes after eating.  I think more ended up in his lap than in his mouth.

Dessert or as Ford calls it “Buzzert”

And while we are ALL outside having fun and enjoying the weather it is evident that Trey is missing.  I walked inside to find him asleep on my parents’ couch.

It’s always exciting trying to get a picture of the 4 grandkids

Burning off that big lunch with some good old fashioned exercise.

So I found this new website through stalking someone else’s blog.  I know that I am probably the last one to know about pinterest, but it’s really amazing.  It’s a must see website.  It has everything from fashion to photography to kids’ stuff etc.  I am 100% not arts and craftsy, although DEEP down I really wish I were.  Well, I found this cute picture of a tree made out of a child’s arm and hand so Ford and I tried it….

Except ours turned out like a train wreck and not at all like the one on the website.  I think you must need to do it with a child older than 2 who will mind you and not fling paint everywhere.  This is our tree…

Pops came over to eat tonight.  Ford and I made him some “buzzert” (dessert) and he helped me clean up the mess.

We want to thank everyone for ALL the prayer and sweet comments we have gotten about Trey’s dad (Pops).  He has his second chemo treatment this week.  We are continuing to pray for positive results.

And to end my blog on a positive note as well….   I was given an amazing book for my birthday from my ex trainer, (she quit doing her afternoon class) Liz, her daughter and my former student, Lucy, and her other daughter and one of my new students, Ruth.  It’s called Jesus Calling.  It’s a yearly book of daily devotionals and I have learned to love it so much.  I often cheat and read several a night.   It always seems that the Lord knows exactly what I need to hear that day.  Thank you again for my birthday present!

Managers, Gumballs, and Night Lights

I really hope on my Judgment Day that the Lord forgives me for all the lying that I do to Ford.  I am telling you, I come up with more stuff that I say to him in the attempt to make him act right.  I know that there is no perfect child, but I have seen many who are better behaved than Ford.  Recently, my parents and the three of us went out to eat a burger at a local restaurant.  Ford was bouncing up and down in the booth, playing with the salt and pepper, going under the table, and anything else you can think of he was doing.  We pointed to a lady in a red shirt and told him she was the “manager” and would come and get on to him if he didn’t straighten up.  He calmed down a bit but sure didn’t take his eye off that “manager” the rest of the meal.

The last few mornings Ford has gotten upset when I left for school.  I leave at 6:45 and he just isn’t ready to let his momma go.  This is what I got on Friday morning from the back door….

He later told Trey that he needed his momma and Jesus!

We have converted Ford’s room into a big boy room.  He has lots of hand-me-downs in there including this cheap old white table I had in college.

I slapped a coat of paint on it and now Ford has a bed-side table.

When Trey and I were dating he randomly asked me what my favorite number was.  I told him 44.  He perked up and asked why.  I told him when I was very young (probably 4ish) I asked one of my aunts how old she was and she told me 44.  I really like that aunt, and all my aunts, but decided that since Aunt Carole was 44 that would be my favorite number.  (She doesn’t even know this).  Well it just so happens 44 was Trey’s favorite number as well and what he wore in high school.  Someone had Ford a jersey made so he could look like his daddy did in high school.

We also found this old jersey of Trey’s that Ford wore on Saturday when the Rebels got beat by BYU.

Potty training is still underway around here.  I usually have to bribe Ford with sweet tarts to make him tee tee.  He will go all day for a sweet tart.  He won’t poop for a sweet tart at all.  It’s just not going to happen.  Yesterday while shopping alone at Wal-Mart (it was wonderful…rarely happens) I was able to stroll through the toy section.  I found a $5.00 gumball machine and it was like bright lights were illuminating this thing.  Then a light bulb popped on in my head that this would be great bribery for pooping on the potty.  When I walked in the door from my mini vacation to Wal-Mart Ford promptly tells me that he has dirty pants.  After I changed him I told him I bought him a special surprise and pulled out the gumball machine.  He didn’t know what in the world it was but was super pumped and wanted it opened NOW.  I told him he could “only” have one if he pooped on the potty.  I will have you know that Ford sat on that toilet on and off for about 20 minutes trying to go to the bathroom.  I didn’t want him to get hemorrhoids so I gave him a gumball just to show him how fun it could be.  As luck would have it, he has already gotten another one today!!!  I may be smarter than I ever thought I was……

Ford has slept ALL night and has gone to bed without a fuss since last Monday night.  I will have you know that my $3.97 night light I bought at Wal-Mart is one of my best investments yet.  I would swim and ocean or pay top dollar for a new one if it was to break.  PRAISE GOD FOR A NIGHT LIGHT!

Softball is an ALL Day Event

Annie girl and I have been spending a lot of our Saturdays at the softball fields.   Softball is an all-day event and then some.  She knows ...
