Ohhhhhhhhhh Nellie!!!

I have been surprised with all the feedback I have gotten from my last blog post.  I got more comments than ever, lots of text messages, and Facebook messages.  I hope that it touched someone in a special way.
Ford started back to school yesterday.  The morning was very quiet around here while he was gone.  John Brantley slept most of the morning so I was able to get a lot done and have some “Suzanne time”.
Ford likes to cut paper.  I found some preschool safety scissors at Wal-Mart and he thinks he is big business with those.
I got my 2012 blog book printed.  Well, actually I had so many pictures that it required 2 books.  I sat down and had them made at the same time and one of them came in the mail on Tuesday and the other isn’t here yet… Go figure.  I’ve been publishing my blogs each year since 2009.  Since I am not a scrapbooker this is a good way to remember what all my family has done.
On Tuesday Trey called and said he wanted us to come to Jackson on Wednesday.  This Mississippi Gulf Coast was hosting a reception at the Trademark Center and Trey said I needed to come.  Now all of y’all that are faithful blog readers of mine know that I am Type A, a planner, and I like to have time to worry about things WELL in advance.  Tuesday night is not what I call advanced notice.  It’s one thing to pack for yourself, but when you also have to pack for a 3 year old and a 6 month old that takes it to a whole new level.  Well, with a little persuasion from a friend who said I am not spontaneous enough I decided to go!  We pulled out at 1:00 on Wednesday and were home by 10:00 A.M. on Thursday.  We weren’t even gone for 24 hours.
Fancy and I went to the reception which had lots of good food if you like the type of stuff that swims, which I don’t.  He and I are pretty opposite.  I prefer to be at home in my pajamas and robe and he likes to go out and socialize.  I went.  I had a good time, but after about an hour I was done.  I am not into politics and mingling with folks I don’t know.  I was ready to go.  I will be making more social appearances this year with him since I am now a “stay at home mom”.
We left this morning before 8:00 because the weather was supposed to be really bad.  I had planned to stay until after lunch and go by and visit with my grandmother.  But when I heard of all the storms I decided we’d hit the road.  On highway 55 they have mile markers along the side of the road.  One of my few talents is knowing the location of most of those markers.  We were at mile marker 200 and Ford said, “Momma, I need to go to the bathroom.”  I told him okay just to hold on.  Right after that I saw an exit for an old rest area.  I told him I’d pull off and he could just go in the grass (yes, mother of the year… speaking of mothers I am sure mine is dying after reading that!!!)  He said, “No, momma… I need to poo poo.”  Of course he needed to poo poo.  I absolutely HATE taking Ford in public bathrooms.  I am a huge germ freak and I believe public bathrooms are infested with many diseases.  I said, “Well, you’re going to have to hold on buddy.”  I knew the Grenada exit was 206 and we could make it there fast.  Ford started saying, “Ohhhhhhhhh Nellie, I really have to go.  Ohhhhhhhhhhh Nellie, I have to poo poo bad!”  All I could do was laugh.  Fortunately, we made it to the bathroom and low and behold he didn’t have to go! I am sure we were a sight though.  Both boys were in their pajamas and I had on no make-up.  No make-up is also something that never happens!  I am boycotting it all day today though!
On Saturday Trey went to the Compass Bowl and I stayed home with the boys.  It got to be a very long day so we got into Ford’s Christmas treat bags from school.  I even let John Brantley have a few licks of a candy cane.
JB can sit up so well now. He is even crawling in his own special way.
Ford needed to practice his letters.
Earlier I was making some casseroles to freeze for suppers later on.  I had the boys on the floor.  I looked over and it made me smile seeing both of them playing.  They are going to have such fun playing together one day!
John Brantley has had terrible diapers for 12 days now.  During this run of dirty diapers he has cut a tooth.  Yesterday his diaper failed to do its job and we had to have a bath.  I got this cute picture of him during the clean-up phase.
