What are the two big things you ask? Well, for starters I have cheated and started him on vitamin D-whole milk. He hasn’t been given the thumbs up from the pediatrician that he can graduate to big boy milk, but I thought we would start easing our way into it. I bought some on Monday and poured just a little in a bottle. He spit it out. I decided we would try it again in a little while and this time I would warm it up like I always do with his bottles. He left it in his mouth this time for a few seconds and spit it out again. I consulted my mommy mentor, my sister in-law, Sugar and Spice Mommy, and she told me to mix it. So the next day we tried it again. I put half whole milk and half of his other milk. It worked like a charm. So we are smooth sailing on transitioning into regular milk and I must say I am a bit thrilled about it.
And the next milestone we crossed in the life of Ford Lamar is…. A BIG BOY car seat!!!!! My mom, Gran, has been saying for months that he would love facing forwards so that he can see what is going on. I think he likes facing forwards, but the fact that he can see us and we aren’t holding him might be a bit of an issue. We haven’t ridden more than 4 or 5 minutes at a time in his new seat so I am not sure how he will be on longer trips. But if you are going anywhere in Senatobia it won’t be longer than 4 or 5 minutes. This is Mayberry remember!!!
We had breakfast Sunday today and Lynn (The Savage Family) asked me for my recipe. I have actually posted this one before but here it is again…
CARAMEL FRENCH TOAST
1 ½ cups firmly packed brown sugar
¾ cup butter
6 tablespoons light corn syrup
10 (1 ¼ inch French bread slices)
4 eggs beaten
2 ½ cups milk
1 tablespoon vanilla
¼ teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
¼ cup butter melted
In a medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, ¾ cup butter and corn syrup. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly for 5 minutes or until bubbly. Pour syrup evenly into a lightly greased 13x9 inch baking dish. Place bread slices over syrup. Combine eggs, milk, vanilla, and salt. Stir well and our over bread. Cover and refrigerate at least 8 hours.
Preheat over to 350. Combine sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over soaked bread. Drizzle ¼ cup melted butter on top. Bake, uncovered, 45 to 50 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
Something is seriously strange with this site tonight. The pictures will not upload correctly. I have no idea how this is going to look.

You are going to love being on whole milk...so much easier!! Reid is a new person in his big boy car seat...he hated his other one. Ford looks so adorable in his little New Balance:)
That's exactly how I transitioned Jackson to whole milk. I say, go for it. We started about 3 weeks before Jackson's first birthday. BTW... I want Ford! He's precious :)
