Life of the Lamar Boys

Well the little man is 4 months old.  It’s really hard to believe I have been a mother of two for 4 months now.  He has grown soooo much in the last 4 months and has developed quite the personality.
His first taste of a lemon…. He actually liked it and was licking his chops

The pediatrician said he needed to take infant vitamins with iron in them.  Well, they look and smell nasty.  The poor baby makes terrible faces when I give it to him.

Here are some things about John Brantley….
He isn’t a big fan of a pacifier.  He’d rather eat his hands.
He gets really upset when he is tired or hungry.  There isn’t much consoling that can be done so you better get ready to feed him.
He is eating rice cereal and oatmeal.  Feeding time is difficult because he wants to eat his hands the entire time and he usually slumps down in the bumbo.
He loves to take a bath.  I still put his seat in the kitchen sink.  He gets a bath immediately after he eats his rice or oatmeal.
He squeals and talks a lot.  It really is music to my ears!!!
He is very ticklish and does a fabulous belly laugh.
He is weighing in at 14.6 pounds, wears a size 2 diaper (as of this week), and can wear anything clothes wise from 3-9 months depending on the brand.
John Brantley has never worn shoes.
He doesn’t sleep swaddled in his miracle blanket anymore.  It’s gotten chilly at night so he sleeps inside his wedge in a sleep sack.
He has lost soooo much hair.  It’s slowly growing back blonde and it’s going to be wavy/kinky like mine.  Poor child!
John Brantley LOVES Ford.  Ford will get down on the floor and talk to him, tickle him, sing to him, and just play.   John Brantley just giggles the entire time.  When Ford walks away the baby almost breaks his neck to see where he is going.
He is a grabber.  He pulls on my hair, earrings, and clothes.  Ford never did that so I am in for it now.
He’s a fat baby, but he’s not long.  When I put his fall and winter clothes on him they are usually too big and I have to roll the pants legs up.
Teething is probably the worst thing going on with John Brantley lately.  Nothing helps!!!!!!  He gnaws on his hands ALL day!

FORD
Ford is still a mess.  The other day I went to give him some food to eat and he replied with “That’s too much honey.”  I don’t even remember what I gave him, but it was so funny.
When Ford gets in trouble he often spends some time in “Time Out”.  When he has been there a while we will tell him he can get up and come explain to us what happened.  It’s very comical for him to try to express to us what happened, why it happened, and how he will do better next time.  He is a little manipulator and tries to cry his way out of trouble most of the time.
Ford is still obsessed with Mickey Mouse.  Today he was very concerned because he said his spaceship was stuck in North Carolina.  I asked him where he had heard about North Caroline and he told me God taught it to him.  I mean what can you say to that??

I can’t seem to make Ford understand that cartoons aren’t real.  He seems to think that Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, and the entire gang can come play at our house.  I gave up on that argument.  He thinks we are going to Mars soon to see them and to find Martian Mickey.  I have decided to just go with it.  I can’t convince him or destroy his dreams of a trip to Mars with the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse gang!
Ford woke up from his nap yesterday and was on the couch eating his snack.  He said, “Momma, does God have a big bottom?”  Ford talks about God and Heaven a lot and I have explained that God is REALLY big and can see everyone, everywhere, all the time.  He still is having a hard to grasping that concept.  I guess if he thinks he’s big then he has a big bottom too!!!
Ford went to the Ole Miss vs. Auburn game with Trey, Puddin, and Pops.

SAUSAGE and CHEESE ROLL-UPS
1 pound sausage
1 pound Velveeta cheese
3 cans of crescent rolls
Cook and drain the sausage.  Return the sausage to the skillet.  Heat the cheese in the microwave for 1 minute.  Then add the cheese to sausage.  Stir until melted.  Put one spoonful of mixture into a crescent roll and roll them up.  Cook for 15-20 minutes.

Learning about patterns by playing with sand art

We went to play at our church gym one afternoon with a friend.  Being at home all the time can get boring.  They had a lot of room to run and play.

We went looking for rain boots at Shoe Carnival.  We didn’t find boots, but they had a fire truck to play on.

Pumpkin Picking

Thursday night Trey and I actually had a date night and did something fun.  Back in the summer he got us tickets to hear Alan Jackson in Southaven at Snowden Grove.  I am not a country music fan, but I do like Alan and I thought it would be great fun.  Amy, from Trey's office, volunteered to keep my boys along with her 3 children that night.  She has been deemed at St. Amy for taking on such a task.
It is only fitting that you take a truck to a country music concert.  Maybe that is why he bought himself a truck????
On the way to the concert in Trey’s new truck.

Our good friends, Wynne and Jessica Cox, went with us.

Good ole Alan

The last time I heard him was in 1997 with these girls!
John Brantley has been eating rice cereal and oatmeal for almost 2 weeks now.  He is sort of top heavy so sitting in a Bumbo is often a difficult task.  I have decided that handcuffs would be nice to have during the feeding time.  He is constantly gnawing on those hands.

Brotherly bonding

John Brantley wasn’t acting like himself last week so I decided to take him to the doctor on Friday afternoon.  I could envision it… I don’t take him to the doctor and then we have a miserable weekend.  I like to live by the “Better safe than sorry” motto.  Fortunately, Gran was up for the field trip as well, so we picked her up half way and went to get checked out.  I thought it was an ear infection, but it wasn’t!!!  He needed to take a larger dose of his stomach medicine.  While we were there I decided Ford could get his flu shot.  Who knew that it also came in a mist!!??!!  We opted for the mist.  This was apparently NOT in the cards for Ford Lamar on this lovely Friday afternoon.  He pitched one.  He was crying and carrying on.  I got him off of the table and cradled him and said we would NOT go home until he sniffed that medicine up.

Mr. Big Stuff weighed 14.6 pounds.

Sweet Thang asleep in his car seat.  He was also called a girl in this outfit.  REALLY??!!??

Yesterday we went to buy some pumpkins.  We always go to a local place in town called the Baddour Center and select a pumpkin for everyone in the house.  Ford picked them out of course.

Nothing adds to the excitement of pumpkin picking like finding our good ole pals Mickey and Donald waiting on us inside!!!!!!!

Our dog finds every opportunity she can to run out of the gate (when left open) and cruise through town.  I noticed that she was missing this afternoon and it literally ticked me off.  I am sooooooo sick of looking for her when she makes a run for it, that I just quit.  The only reason we even attempt to find her is so that Ford won’t have a heart attack.  When Trey’s aunt found her on Main Street and brought her back I spanked her.  Ford didn’t approve.  He said, “Momma, look at her eyes.  She is sad.”  He went and hugged her!

I took a lot of notes on my phone of things I needed to add to my blog, but that would make it too lengthy and my mom would tell me I wrote too much.  (Love you mom)  So, until next time!!!

Twitter and Tweets

I still live in the world of 1999.  I liked that era.  Not too much technology, but enough to get by comfortably.  Now there is way too much “stuff” to distract people’s time and attention from important things.  With that being said, what is Twitter?  Seriously?  I have never been on Twitter.  I don’t know how I would get on Twitter and the word “tweet” goobs me out.  Now Fancy (Trey) has a twitter account.  I almost wet my pants when he told me that.  He plays on his Ipad about 20 hours per week (not lying) and when I ask what he is doing and he will say stuff about Twitter.  Last night I asked him about a hashtag and he said until I get on Twitter he can’t explain it.  If that’s the case, I will NEVER know.  I don’t need Twitter for people to keep up with me… I have my blog and Facebook.  With that being said I think Twitter is goofy... whatever it is, and the word “tweet” is even worse!
6:30 Friday night and he just couldn’t do it anymore!
Saturday the school district that I used to teach at had its first fall carnival.  I was so excited to take Ford to play all the games and do something other than sit at home.  He LOVES to jump.

They had a jumpy thing, rock wall, bouncy house, bouncy slide, petting zoo, helicopter and much more.  Ford cried when we left.

Ford really cracks me up with what he says and does.  I take notes on my phone so that when I do blog I can remember what has happened during the week.
I had to get onto Ford and when I was finished he said, “Momma, you made my heart burn.”  Ha ha ha
He LOVES Mickey Mouse Club House and has already told me that he wants a Mickey birthday party.  Many of the shows he watches On Demand talk about Mars, Pluto, Space ships, Rockets, and Outer Space.  He has quite the imagination and talks about that stuff a lot.  The other day he grabbed my mascara and said he was flying it to Mars.  He is also known to use an empty coke bottle as a rocket or space ship as well.
Ford knows I love pink and anytime we see something pink he will say, “Look momma, it’s pink for you!”
He is such a sweet child and really strives to make other people happy.  He tells me at least 5 times a day, “I love you and you look pretty.”  I can just have rolled out of bed and have the BEST case of bed head and he still tells me that!
When it’s bedtime he tends to stall now days.  He seems to get hungry or thirsty when I say it’s time for bed.
When Ford was younger he had A LOT of ear infections, but we never met the quota to get tubes.  Now I haven’t asked a doctor this, but Dr. Momma here thinks that all those ear infections caused major sensitivity to his little ears.  We live right by the train tracks and when a train comes by he wants to watch it, but from the inside.  If we are outside he freaks.  He can’t stand a public bathroom because of the toilets flushing and the hand driers kill his ears.  Anything that might be loud makes him cover his ears and he wants to leave.
Ford LOVES John Brantley as I have said many times before.  He is constantly “in his business” (in his face) and kissing and hugging him.  The other day he came to me all upset and said John Brantley hit him!!  I tried to explain that JB doesn’t have control over his arms and hands and he really didn’t mean to!
Ford likes to color and draw.  We have dry erase boards, markers, coloring books, magna-doodles, crayons, paint etc.  For some reason Ford likes to tear the paper off of his crayons and then break them in half.  It drives me crazy!!!
My little man looked so cute today.  His blue jeans are a size 2.  He was complaining all day that they were too big and kept riding down.  I told him if he’d eat better his clothes would fit!
We went to visit Daddy.  We usually are granted about 2 minutes in his office and then we get kicked out for noise violations.

The weather is finally nice enough for us to get outside and play without breaking a sweat.  It was lovely today and we took advantage of it and strolled the bumpy sidewalks of Mayberry.

The stroll put him right to sleep.

He ALWAYS eats his hands or clothes.  When I am dressing him he will grab my shirt sleeve and try to eat it too.
I was looking for Ford earlier and he had made himself a pallet in a corner and was watching the news!!!   One must stay up to date on worldly affairs!

Hey Lainey!!!!

When we found out Lainey Wilson was coming to Philadelphia and we could go, we jumped at the chance to see her concert. We got to get on Mar...
