I looked like a present, or so he said

Last weekend Trey and I celebrated our 6 year wedding anniversary.  We also took a trip to Nashville for a wedding.
En route to Nashville.  Trey forget his sunglasses so I let him borrow a spare pair…
Our good friends, Sidney and Callie, let us stay at their new house in Brentwood. Before we left for the wedding I asked Sidney to take our picture. Trey kind of gasped when he saw what I was wearing. He said “You look like a present! Where in the world did you get that dress? I never thought you would wear something like that!” I personally liked my new dress. I guess he and I don’t have the same taste!

Ford has a fascination with the dryer.  He decided he needed to play in there today.

Ford will be going to preschool some this fall.  We got his school supply list (which looks very costly) and I decided to start purchasing some of the items listed.  A nap mat was on the list and I found one at a store here in Mayberry.  Ford went with the farm theme… imagine that!!!  I have started praying for his teachers already because there is NOWAY that child will sleep on the floor in that thing.  More power to them for trying!!!!!!

When Ford gets bored he tends to get in trouble.  I feel like I am constantly getting on to him this summer or threatening him with “time out” or a spanking.  I try to think of fun activities he and I can do to keep him from destroying something or getting punished for unruly behavior.   Today we painted.  We have painted before but I gave him a big piece of paper today.  This is actually wrapping paper.  He loved it.

I got my 2010 blog published.  I ordered it and it came in exactly a week.  I am so proud of it.  Not because of my blogging skills (they are lacking) but because I have all of these memories.  I sure wish I had something like that from my childhood.  Anyone with children who doesn’t have a blog needs to start one now!!!  I got it printed from www.blog2print.com .

Happy Anniversary

Six years ago I married my best friend.
Whoever said you won’t meet your husband at a bar was ohhh so wrong.  No, I am not proud of that fact that Trey and I met at a bar, but it is what it is.  Trey and I dated for 2 ½ years before we got married.  Here are some of my favorite pictures from the dating years….

We got engaged on Trey’s 24th birthday.  Little did I know when I took this picture of Trey that he had a ring in his pocket.
Summer 2004 on a boat at Picwick Lake.  This was right before he popped the “big” question.

Our big day….

From that to this....

I have wanted to learn to sew for a while now, but like many other things I never got around to it.  I decided that once summer started I would pursue this new idea and there I went.  I told “my teacher” that the ultimate goal was to be able to sew clothes for Ford.  We started simple with a pillow case and moved on to a quilt.
A quilt sounded easy enough.  I was told it was basically sewing straight lines (that and a lot of ironing creases straight).  After a month of sewing (when time allowed) I am finished with MY QUILT!  I am pretty dang proud of it too.  No, it’s not perfect, but it’s special and was made with love for my little man.
From that…
Me hard at work…  And yes 4 hours worth of it was sewn by hand.

I can check that off of my list of things to do this summer.  All the other things I wanted to do this summer haven’t happened yet.  Examples: clean out my closet, take stuff to Hope (like the Salvation Army), cook new recipes, lose 15 pounds, etc.  Oh well, I have spent a lot of quality time with Ford doing stuff like this…

Our sweet neighbor and one of my students last year

Ford was concerned that Daddy didn’t put his "bubbles" up.  Yes, a push lawnmower is called “bubbles” by Ford.

I don’t have a lot more to say.  I just needed to show off my sewing skills.  No one place their orders anytime soon.  I don’t believe I will take up quilting anytime soon!

A Tuesday Blogger

Apparently I have become a Tuesday blogger.  All of my recent posts are on Tuesdays.

Last week we took swimming lessons.  No, Ford didn’t learn to swim, but he did learn some new swimming techniques.  He enjoyed picking out his shoes each day before the big swim.  On this particular day he chose rain boots…

Since the beginning June I have been worried that one of Ford’s eyes was turning in and he had lazy eye.  I had lazy eye as a child and got pink glasses at age 4.  I had convinced myself that I had passed my bad eyes on to Ford.  I made an appointment for last week and we both went and had our eyes checked.

Fortunately, he does not have lazy eye and she doesn’t need to see him back for another 2 years.  However, I will not be getting mother of the year for his performance in her office though.  But to his defense, being in a doctor’s office for almost 2 hours is a little much for a two year old.

Pops was doing some yard renovations and Ford was just the man to help drive the tractor.

I love going to the lake.  Gran and BoomPa kept Ford on Sunday night so Trey and I could go to Picwick.  Puddin and Pops have a boat so we enjoyed cruising on the water.  Vance, Drew, and several others were up there as well so we tied up with their boat and floated in the water most of the day.

Drew and me….

I decided it was time for me to learn how to water ski.  Since I have been working out for a year now I decided I was strong enough to take on the challenge.  I attempted several times.  The first few times my skis fell off, then there was slack in the rope, or Trey just couldn’t drive to my liking.  Finally, I got up and was skiing when I went over the wake and busted my chops.  That was it.  I had enough.  I told Trey it felt like I ran into a brick wall.  I am still hurting 2 days later.

Do you see me?  No, I think I was drowning at this point.

I was glad to see my little man when we got home.  He was ready to play blocks and “build it tall”.

The country club always puts on a nice fireworks show for the 4th.  The only problem with a fireworks show is that it starts after dark.  We wanted to take Ford and he goes to bed before dark.  We decided to risk it anyway.

Ford in the back of Trey’s truck while we gathered our stuff for the fireworks show.

Before the show began they gave all the kids a sparkler to play with.  Safe huh???

Who knew sparklers could produce sooooooooo much smoke.

After a few  minutes he said, “That’s enough.” “Go home.”  “Too loud.”

Allowing Ford to stay up for the fireworks show resulted in a 10:00 bed time.  That is a recipe for disaster.  This entire day has pretty much been a disaster.  By supper he was squalling like you have never seen.  I documented the occasion.

To cope with the day I had some ice cream after I put him to bed.  I thought I deserved it for dealing with an overly tired two year old.
Even though he was a pistol today we still had fun.  He got another haircut.  We enjoyed some Senatobia fine dining at the local Mexican restaurant.  We played lots of hide-n-go-seek.  He counts to ten and I hide.  We played with his blocks and “made it tall.”  I managed to do 5 loads of laundry.  Ford enjoyed watching his new tractor dvd twice.  We jumped on the bed, ate snacks, sand songs, had tickle wars, and just enjoyed some quality mother-son time!
