It's 2017, however, I got a Christmas gift from 2015 that I just used. Yep, life can be crazy sometimes and a mere 16 months later Trey and I finally go to use my Christmas present, a trip to NOLA. That would be New Orleans, Louisiana.
Now my kids don't like for me to go anywhere. To clarify, they like to see me at all times. Leaving the room to fold laundry sends them into orbit and they stalk me out. So you can imagine how leaving the state could upset my herd. Ford requested that I leave them a present every day like I did when we went to Seattle in August 2015. To the Dollar Tree I went to stock up on good old junk!
I arose on Friday AM at 5:00 to get ready for the Cajun excursion. Trey went turkey hunting. I was ready at 8:00, but we left at 10:30. That can kill a mood, but I sucked it up and off we went.First stop was to eat at Middendorf's. That was some good eating. And will you know that we saw 6 people we knew in that restaurant...all in the same family of course.
I took this picture for Ford since Jefferson is his first name.
We checked into our condo....
It was super nice and in a good location. We might just stay there again one time.
Friday night we went out to eat with one of Trey's buddies he knows from the legislature. This was fine dining at it's best! My dessert!
We hopped over to a swanky bar with an amazing view of the city.
The LEG lamp! You wouldn't understand if you've never see the movie, A Christmas Story.
View.
Saturday morning we got breakfast here...
And Kel, the man we ate with Friday night, took us on a 3.5 hour tour of the city. The cemeteries are really neat.
I was sooooooo tired from a bad night's sleep that I took a 2.5 hour nap while Trey watched the Masters. Then when he woke me up we walked around and ate some lunch. A late lunch.
And shopped
That night we dined fancy again...
And Trey made a friend...
Sunday morning we ate a fun brunch at Willa Jean's.
Then acted touristy and I got a sunburn on my shoulders!
We happened to go on the biggest weekend...The French Quarter Festival.
And who can visit NOLA without a beignets!!!!
It was serious eating!!!...I had to scrunch my nose.
We checked out of the condo and into the Le Pavillion. This hotel is 110 years old and we just so happened to stay there the night we got married 12 years ago.
It's beautiful inside!
After we ate we went to some hippie art festival, per Trey's request!!!
He really does love me even though I give him a hard time. Someone has to.
My art
And his....See I get my fair share of his mess too!
Thank you to my dad for keeping Annie and Bitty for a little while on Friday, thank you Anna Greer for helping Puddin out on Saturday, and a SUPER DUPER BIG thank you to Puddin and Pops for keeping our babies all weekend. I think it's essential for parents to get mental health breaks, but they don't happen without lots of help. Soooo thank you all..... we had a GREAT time!
New blog below....
