I think I've always been part nerd (Ken, my brother, might disagree...he'd say all nerd) at heart. I mean from age 4-12 I looked like....
I mean please get a load of those thick plastic glasses. I'm pretty sure they left some deep scars on my life. Moral of the story: if your child has to get glasses, at least get cool ones!!
So the title of this blog is "A.R." That would stand for Accelerated Reader. When I taught third grade my nickname was "A.R. Lamar". I, along with another teacher, was in charge of fundraising for the school, all A.R. parties, write up's in the paper, and such. One year we raised $11,000!!! So A.R. is kind of near and dear to me since I spent so much time handling it for the school where I previously worked.
I was really excited when Ford started first grade because that meant A.R. started. We have been reading books and taking tests all semester. I am not pushing him to get the most points in his class or grade, just to get 25 points each semester. I think that's definitely doable. Well, in November his name was drawn for the first grade A.R. reader of the month. And this momma, A.R. Lamar, is proud of her Fordy!!!!
