Spring Break of 2014 is officially coming to a close. In years past, I would be sad, slightly depressed,
and upset that my time was wrapping up.
However, since my current occupation is 24/7 and 365 days a year, breaks
mean nothing to me. Once school starts
back I will get more of a break because Ford will be back in school.
However, I do love a reason to go on a quick trip and SB2014
(Spring Break 2014) was a lot of fun.
The boys and I headed south on Monday afternoon en route to none other
than Jackson. Representative Lamar doesn’t
get spring break so we thought we would spend some time down there with
him.
We rolled into town about 3:00 and headed to my Grandmother’s
house to play in her trees and yard.
Ford opted for the trees and Bitty just ran amuck in the yard. Not long after we arrived they were in need
of a snack. Fortunately, Grandmother had
milk and Kit-Kat bars. John Brantley
wasn't a fan of a Kit-Kat. He obviously
isn't my kid!
Bitty isn't a man of many words. I’m sure he was saying “Mmmmaaaaaaaaa”
here. That sort of means pretty much
everything. After I left my Grandmother’s house I went to the hospital to meet my new friend, Townes. I blogged about him in a previous post. I concluded my night by watching the final episode of The Bachelor. Please don’t judge me!!!
On Tuesday, we met our friends, The Wilson’s, at the
Children’s Museum. Ford and Ryder are
about 4 months apart in age and had a LARGE time playing. John Brantley and his little brother, Rhodes,
are a month apart. They make excellent
playmates.
We left the Children’s museum and went to eat and buy Ford
some new tennis shoes. He started crying
last week when I told him to put on his shoes.
He pleaded that they hurt his feet.
I guess so, we bought them last summer!!! Then we headed to Puddin’s house for a
nap.
After naps we went to Clinton to Ryder and Rhodes’s
house. I have mentioned before that Ford
loves a show on PBS called “Wild Kratts”.
Well, Ryder is a BIG fan of the show too. They played Wild Kratts in the backyard. Who cares if it was raining!!!
Rhodes didn't participate in the mud play!!!
After a long night in Clinton we rested up for a trip
south. On Wednesday, the boys and I
headed to my old stomping ground- Hattiesburg, MS. For those of you who don’t know me, my family
moved to Hattiesburg the summer before I started 8th grade and moved
right after I graduated from college.
Since we don’t have family down there, I don’t get to see my friends who
live there too much. I decided I was
going down on spring break because I hadn't seen my two best friends in TWO
years. That’s just uncalled for. We have a few kids between us…. There are
some cousins in the picture too.
Jamie and her nephew, Knox, and the back of her son's head, Bishop… Katie and her daughter, Colbie
and me.All the kids eating pizza….
After the babies went to bed we put on our pajamas, cuddled up under blankets, and caught up on old times. Friends are good for the soul. These two girls are so special to me. I might not have seen them in two years, but we didn't miss a beat. We laughed until our faces hurt and finally turned in at midnight!!!
On Thursday, the boys and I drove around Hattiesburg,
shopped a little, and met my cousin and her boys at Newk’s for lunch. Thank y’all for driving up to see us!!!! Then we headed back to Jackson. Trey was at the Capitol and told us to stop
by. I’m pretty sure all 4 floors knew
when we got off of the elevator… JB announced our arrival LOUD AND CLEAR!!!!
In Daddy’s seat….
Bitty was definitely into everything possible. The shovel was his prize from The Dollar Spot at Target. He found the tractor and Mardi Gras beads at Daddy’s seat!!!
Ford was listening to Representative White talk about his
children.
So much to be thankful for….I am probably the LEAST political person I know. However, I married into the most political family I could find. Not only is Trey a representative and Puddin on the Supreme Court, BUT Trey’s Grandfather was a State Representative too. Puddin’s daddy was down in Jackson for 2 terms.
1960-1964
L.E. Hannaford…. Ford’s middle name is Hannaford. Here’s his namesake.
During the history lesson Bitty rid himself of his
shoes.
1956-1960
Leon E. Hannaford
Tate Co.
Thursday night we went to Representative Gibson’s fish
fry. I felt like I was stepping back in
time. He lives on a farm down deep in
Rankin County. Friday, we got packed,
had lunch at Broadstreet with another cousin, and headed home.
Spring Break 2014 how I love you, but I am ready to be back
to normal in Mayberry!!!
