John Brantley was 5 months old on November 13th. It’s amazing to me how much my little man has
changed in the last 5 months. There were
definitely days there in the first month that I didn’t think I’d make it. Looking back now it’s rather comical thinking
of how I was, but once again, those hormones will get the best of you.
John Brantley is weighing in between 15 and 16 pounds. He wears a size 3 diaper and anywhere from
3-12 months clothes. Mostly he is
wearing 6 months, but his coats are 12 months.
He is still NOT sleeping through the night. I would very much so appreciate it when he
decides it will be a good idea. He
started eating rice cereal at 15 weeks.
He now has oatmeal in the morning and ½ a vegetable and ½ a fruit mixed
with rice cereal at night. We have
stopped sleeping with the wedge in his bed.
I think he enjoys the freedom to move around. He is usually turned a different way when I
pick him up from sleeping than how I put him down. He HATES to put clothes on. If an outfit has to go over his head he gets
ticked and usually cries. He enjoys
smacking his lips, playing with Ford, giggling, and absolutely LOVES to be
held. I think he’d be happy as a lark if
I would hold him all day long!
Puddin joked around the other day that we needed to curl
John Brantley’s old man comb over. I
decided that we would on Monday. It gave
that little hair some fluff and body!
We don’t discriminate on holidays. I love Christmas and think we should start
celebrating now!
We tried a little apple juice and water mixture this
week. He is also a fan of puffs. Since he has no teeth I have to break all the
little pointy ends off and one puff is about 6 bites for John Brantley.
He is the happiest little thing!!! He can roll from his stomach to his back and from his back
to his stomach. We play that game all
day. He usually ends up where he shouldn’t
be like under a chair!
Monday I felt very crafty, which I am not, but we tried. I got on Pinterest and found a recipe for
making Christmas ornaments.
Here's what you'll need..
• 1 box baking soda (about 2 cups) … I used 2 small boxes
• 1 cup cornstarch
• 1 1/2 cups water
• 1 cup cornstarch
• 1 1/2 cups water
Here's how you make it...
1.Mix all the
ingredients in a saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring consistently,
until it is too thick to stir with a spoon.
2. Cool for 15 minutes, or until the dough is cool enough to
touch. Knead it for about 5 minutes, or until smooth. Keep dough wrapped in
plastic.
*** I used a rolling pin to flatten mine out. Then we made hands and feet ornaments.
Once you have molded it, it will take 1-2 days for the clay
to dry. The length of time depends on how thick your craft is: If it is a flat
ornament, it may only take 1 day, if it is thick it will take much longer. This
clay can be painted with either Tempera or acrylic craft paints.
Then I also found these lovely cornucopias on Pinterest
too. They are made out of sugar cones
which you dip the end in water and heat in the microwave about 20 seconds to
curl the end. You fill them with candy
and tie them up for a cute treat. Yep,
old Martha here made them too for Ford’s class party today. I stopped with my crafts. I am over it now. Back to cleaning the house and doing laundry!
Ford is as spunky as ever.
He has been on a nap strike the last 3 days and I don’t appreciate it
very much. He isn’t asleep now. I am sure he is lurking somewhere in the
house while I am blogging. He desperately
needs a playmate. I am not that good at
playing tractors all day!
Real men aren’t afraid of a pink snuggie!
He is using an ice cream cone as a telescope…
It looks like the quality of my camera is fading fast. Trey, please get me a new camera for
Christmas. Preferably a big paparazzi
type camera.
