We have gone on lots of fun trips: The British Virgin Islands, Washington, D.C., Winter Park Colorado, Dallas, Texas, Fayetteville, Arkansas, St. Louis, Missouri, New York City, Birmingham, Alabama, Nashville, Tennessee, Miami, Florida (only for a night) Destin, Florida (several times), Pickwick Lake, etc.
We have lived in Flowood, Mississippi and are now in Senatobia, Mississippi. We have owned two homes and one rental property. We have both gotten new cars. (I hate a car payment!)
I taught third grade for 2 years in the Jackson Public Schools, third grade for 2 years at Senatobia Middle School, and special ed. in the high school and middle school level for 1 semester. And now I am pleased to say I am going back to third grade in August.
We have seen our share of struggle with Trey losing his grandmother and us losing a baby. It was also difficult when Trey was gone for 9 months to St. Louis and I was a new citizen of Mayberry and didn’t know too many people.
We have joined 2 churches in our 5 years… First Presbyterian Church in Jackson and First Baptist Church in Senatobia.
We have watched friends get married and have babies. And we too have had our own little miracle, Ford.
We got our first dog together and my first dog ever, Delta.
I am not the easiest person to live with. I think he has learned to accept that the bed won’t always get made, the laundry may get wrinkled, I will mess up a lot of things that I cook, I will leave the island in the kitchen cluttered with mail, the checkbook will NEVER be balanced correctly, I do not iron, I will continue to sleep with 4 pillows and a stuffed purple dinosaur, the living room will be full of toys, I will have to watch Desperate Housewives in silence on Sunday nights, the bathroom will have lots of products spread all over the counter, I will put my stuff on his side of the bathroom to use his plug-ins, Wal-Mart trips will be made MORE than once a week, If I say dinner will be ready at 6:00 I will eat then with or without him, and I have to have my “Jill” time every night.
I have learned that Trey will always complain about how much I spend at Wal-Mart, Is going to color coordinate his closet until the day he dies, Will continue to take 15 minute showers and twirl in there like a ballerina (I will get in trouble for this one!), Thinks that every meal should have something green to eat, Needs a bowl of cereal at night before he goes to bed, Sleeps with his neck twisted in a funny way, Has bad time management… he always makes us late, Will let his alarm clock go off for up to an hour before he gets up, Would rather have a second helping than dessert (not me!), Can wake up easily to go hunting but has a hard time getting up for work, Loves to talk on the phone more than a woman, and Has more friends than anyone I have ever met.
Being married is wonderful. You get to spend everyday with your best friend and look forward to what the future holds. I have enjoyed my 5 year ride with Trey and I can’t even begin to imagine what the Lord has in store for us in the next 5 years. I am excited to see where he leads us as a married couple and a little family. I hope you will continue to take the journey with us through our blog.
For lots of pictures please look at last years post in July from our 4 year anniversary.
